Weight droppers as seismic sources

VAKIMPAK VAKIMPAK self propelled weight dropper for reflection penetration depths between 20 m and 300 m. The weight is a 50 kg hammer striking upon an anvil in an airtight cylinder. The fall is accelerated by the vacuum produced when the hammer is lifted. The drop height is 1.6m, the total weight is 750 kg.
The VAKIMPAK is the optimal source for target depths up to 150 m. In calm areas, it´s possible to get useful data down to 250 m. Day porduction rate is about 300 shot positions with double vertical stacks.

BISON EWG III The larger seismic source of the type BISON EWG III. The fall of a 250 kg steel piston is accelerated by elastic rubber slings. The drop height is 0.8 m. Reflection penetration depths vary between 500 m and 1500 m depending on the geological conditions. The tool is also wel lsuited for refraction surveys with spread length of up to 1500 m. The tool is mounted on an all terrain vehicle for operation under off-road conditions. Travelling speed is 25 km/h abnd the total weight is 3.5 to.
The production rate is about 400 records a 10 hours day.
